1980's Commodore 64 Game Title?

I used to play a game back in the 80's at my friends house but I can't remember the title.

It was kind of like a D&D game, but I don't think it was called that. You could be a character like a wizard or something, and then you would go round these areas to find keys and navigate your way towards an exit, which you could drop through to the next level. In these areas were ghosts, and other creatures (I remember the ghosts mostly) that you had to avoid. Thing is, if you were behind a wall, they could 'sense' you, so if you moved your character up or down, they would follow you.

Does anyone remember the name of this game?

Update:

@Dave87gn. You didn't have to type in commands. It was a platform if I remember rightly, but it was one of those you looked down on, like the first GTA game. I think anyway!

It sounds like it could possibly be Gateway to Apshai or one of the sequels. That game had various characters you could play, I think including a wizard, and required going from area to area looking for keys to open a door to the next area, plus picking up weapons, treasure, and health as you battled various animals, monsters, and ghouls.

    Is this it?:
