Be forewarned if you are considering buying a Hyundai!?
They apparently design their cars to require REALLY EXPENSIVE repairs.
I have a 2006 Sonata and the clutch has failed at only 85,000 miles. The repair cost? More than $4,000!!!!! And it's more if I have the dealer do the work!
I've been driving a stick for 35 years, so it's not me. The reason it is so expensive apparently is that it utilizes a "dual mass flywheel" which can not be resurfaced. That part alone is $1,500. Then the disc, bearings and glove are $1,100. Labor is 8 hours, or $890 (at a non-dealer). Add tax in and it's $4,000 at a non-dealer and much more at a dealer (I consulted both).

Sure your information is accurate? Or do you just want to rant about how bad Hyundai is?

A used transmission replacement would have much cheaper no matter what a dealership told you.
Not all Hyundai's , my Hyundai has been a wonderful trouble free car for most of it's life so far. I had the clutch done this summer on my 2001 Tiburon around 155,0000 miles, I would certainly purchase another Hyundai any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

$4000 for a clutch replacement??? PROVE IT!! Also, a clutch "failing at only 85,000 miles," proves to me that you are horrible at driving a manual.
Case in point, I have an original (European spec'd GTi) with 140,000 kilometers on it, and it still is on the original clutch.
A Porsche 911 clutch replacement runs that amount, give or take, because the engine has to be dropped.

What's the question? This is Y!A not a forum for moaning. Driving a stick - is that some sort of witchcraft thing? My wife and I both like our Hyundais which we have found to be reliable and economical.

$4000 for a clutch... I don't believe a word you said. You got taken and you know it. As far as what you said about what needed to be replaced... why don't you tell the real story.

You might want a second opinion, that sounds way over priced.
