Whoops, is this your spleeen?

I have 8 large Western Red Cedar trees, and the area below them (about 600 square feet) is prone to weeds (hundreds of them)! Can I put weed killer on those weeds - or the entire area, without damaging the trees? And if so, what kind of weed killer? Note that the trees are all mature - 50+ years old and 80-100 feet tall.

'02 beetle. Yesterday morning fairly cold out (+28) and car wouldn't start. In the afternoon it did start. Same thing today.

I would say it's an issue with cold cranking amps, but all accessories are fine and when I try to start it I get NOTHING. No clicking, no attempt to turn over - just complete silence. If the issue was the battery wouldn't I hear it at least trying to turn over?

Plus - this has happened a few times in the past when it wasn't cold, but on those occasions I just took the key out, waited a few seconds and tried again and it worked, whereas

My kid's 2002 beetle was about low on coolant. I got Pentofrost SF and added about a half of a quart of it to bring the coolant level up to the proper level. But then I realized that I was supposed to have diluted it with water (1 part antifreeze to 1 or 2 parts water depending on temperature conditions).

should I suck some of it out with a turkey baster and replace with water?

They apparently design their cars to require REALLY EXPENSIVE repairs.

I have a 2006 Sonata and the clutch has failed at only 85,000 miles. The repair cost? More than $4,000!!!!! And it's more if I have the dealer do the work!

When I change gears, once in the new gear the engine revs for a second before the gear seems to engage. It just started a month ago and seems to be getting gradually worse. What part of my transmisssion is at fault? How much will the repair cost? How long will it take before total failure? (Note: it's a 2006 Sonata).

Even though Obama's mother was an American, the birthers claimed that he was born in Kenya, and that because of that he was not a "natural born citizen". Well, Cruz was born in Canada (and recently renounced his Canadian citizenship) to an American woman (and a Cuban man). So, he is in exactly the same situation as Obama - so where are the birthers on this?

Is he going to demote them, or just tell them to stop having sex? Will he try to marginalize their influence and stop so many gay men from becoming priests? Given his outspokenness about homosexuality will they feel comfortable confessing their sins to him? And will they be honest with him about their activities and those under them if makes it clear that he won't provide cover for pedophiles?

They are consecrating themselves to God and taking a vow of celebacy anyway, so wouldn't this a) cause them to consider their choice more seriously, b) help them keep their mind on their work and c) discourage pedophiles from choosing the profession?

I simply want to know WHY and HOW the Catholic church turned into a Pedophile factory, that is, what were the system forces that caused them to church out so many priests who molested children? But every time I ask this my question gets deleted.

The NRA keeps telling us that if we carry guns we'll be safe, but this guy carried and it didn't help. Some guys drove up to him in a parking lot and shot him dead. Would he be alive if he carried an assault rifle everywhere!?

They are adamant in their stance that easy access to cheap guns is not even PART of the problem, and that there should be NO attempt to limit access to guns. But I wonder if they would have even a moment of doubt if they had to face every parent's worst nightmare? Or would they just shake it off and say, "This wouldn't have happened if Susie had been allowed to bring a gun to school in her lunchbox"?

Engine light went on, dealer says we need to pay $1800 to replace the ECU. The van seemed to be driving fine, so can't we just keep driving it? They also want $700 to do the brakes and wheel cylinders and possibly a bunch more because the ABS light won't go off. The van's not worth putting $4,000 into so what happens if we just keep driving it like it is?

Seriously - China, Russia, Japan and Canada would probably be willing to buy Alaska from us. If we could sell it for enough to pay off our National Debt should we do it?
