Why didn't I receive an email informing me that I received an answer to a question I posted earlier?
I see that Yahoo! Answers has changed its format. I placed a question here earlier and I noticed that I had an answer because I physically checked and not because I received a notification email. I always make sure that I choose this option

If you have the "Notify me when someone answers" checked then it's a glitch.
