can you help me with math homework? Algebra 1 Honors..?
ok so the first section in my homework says "Write an equation in slope-intercept form of the line that passes through the given point and is parallel to the graph of the given equation" and the first question is:
1. (1,3); y=3x+2
2. (1,-3);y+2=4(x-1)
3. (0,0); y=2/3x +1
And the next section is the same exact thing but it says perpendicular instead of parallel. and the questions are:
1. (0,0); y= -3x+2
2. (1,-2); y=5x+4
3. (5,0); y+1=2(x-3)
CAN YOU PLEASE SHOW ME STEP BY STEP HOW TO DO THESE QUESTIONS BECAUSE I DO NOT GET THEM AT ALL

Do y-y=m(x-x)
For parallel line equations, you keep the slope the same. In y=3x+2 3 is the slope because it is connected to the x. So for m in the equation I put at the top, m will me 3 because m is slope. The ordered pair you have (1,3) 1 is x and 3 is y. So you will have from the y-y=m(x-x) y-3=3(x-1). 3 times x equals 3x. 3 times -1 is -3. So now you have. Y-3=3x-1. Add three to both sides. You will have y=3x+2. That is your new equation. For the perpendicular you do all the same things but when you first put in m for
y-y=m(x-x) you flip the number. If it is -3, your new slope will be 1/3 because -3 in fraction form is -3/1 and the opposite of that is. 1/3. Sorry if this didn't help. But I have to eat dinner. Bye! Good luck!

They just need to have the same slope but different y-intercepts.
1. Equation: Y=3x
Table:
X I Y
0 0
1 3
2 6
Hope that helps, the rest should be easy if you get it.
What grade are you in?
