What kind of baby chick do I have?

It's pale yellow, a rather small body, and long legs. BTW, it's chirping really loudly, why?

Thanks!

It's next to impossible to know what breed you have but this should help with the loud chirping. Chicks the 1st week need heat at their body height at 95 degrees F (35 C) and after 1 full week reduce to 90 F (32.2 C), the third week is at 85 F (29.4 C), the fourth at 80 F (26.6 C) the fifth at 75 F (23.8 C) and the sixth at 70 F (21.1 C) if the room temp is 70 they will not need extra heat but if not room at 70 keep the heat lamp and the temp at 70 until mostly feathered. A 100 watt red heat bulb is good for the heat source. Be sure they have space to get away from the heat. When they are hot they will move away from the heat and when cool will be huddled under the heat. They need water and a chick starter feed 24/7, I prefer the crumble. I start feeding them pellets at two weeks and add more and more as they eat it. I give less and less starter until it is used up. Feed them some grit from the feed store. I always force feed mine 3-5 grits or small stones the size of a rice grain and put them in separate box till all get some. This is to assure me that every chick has grit in the gizzard. I put newspaper in a large cardboard box and hang the heat bulb low enough for the proper temp around the height of their head.

With this description that could be a number of breeds of chickens .....Could be a type of Cochin's,Or frizzles Bantams,Rocks,Wyandotts,Minorcas (have long legs)Leghorns,Camehens,Buff Cochins, may even be a Old english type, or a German Langshan Guess you will have to waite for the baby to get bigger to know the breed.

AS far as the chipping gos the chick may be hungry you have to keep a mash/crumble at all times in the area you have the tiny bird. Water as well and some floor cover like hay or wood chips large enough so the chick can't eat it and old towel a heat lamp to offer it warmth an old toy so the chick feels like it has a buddy. The chick could be cold , lonely or scared some reasons it may be chipping its best to always have at least 2 when getting baby chicks for company warmth and companionship.

Could be several breeds, the colour will change when its real feathers come through. Enquire from the person you got it from.

The loud chirping may be because its cold - is it under a heat lamp? - or because it's lonely - you should never try to raise one chick on its own, they really need company.
