Can I go to a vocational high school and still go to college?

I'm currently in the eighth grade and I've been thinking about going to a vocational high school instead of the regular high school in my town. I'm planning on studying Graphic communications and then going to college and majoring in journalism with a minor in photo journalism to make the two connect. I've always loved writing and photography so I though this would be a good idea. However, I've heard that colleges are more apt to accept kids who have gone to a traditional highschools. I really want to go to a good college, not a community college. My dad has a friend who went to brown after attending a vocational school but I don't know if this is a rarity or not . So, what should I do!? Please help. I've become really worried.

In theory, vocational high schools value more hands on job training, and traditional high schools offer more of a college prep group of classes.

What you might do is contact several colleges that you are interested in and talk to some one in the registrar's office about whether the vocational

school you are considering would give you the basis you would need to accomplish college level work.

You might also ask how many freshman they admit each year from vocational skills.

For what it is worth, many traditional high schools offer courses in photography. It's a tough choice, but you can't go wrong by choosing the more rigorous school.
