Should Peyton not try to break the TD and passing YDS records?

Does anyone think that there may be a "curse" when it comes to breaking significant records(like passing TDs/yards in a season)? If so, should Manning worry about breaking Brady and Bree's records?

Here's a link to give some additional info:

Also, when was the last time the regular season MVP won the Super Bowl in the same seaon, if ever? Because Manning will almost certainly be named MVP, and that doesn't bode well for the league MVP as far as winning the SB is concerned...

Update:

@Eric I never said I beleived in curses. I was browsing the 'net, and stumbled upon the article I linked. Just wanted to know what others might think about it...

To be fair, a QB breaking the record wasn't the reason why those teams lost. Their offenses were one-dimensional and in the playoffs you need a balanced attack.

The exception would be The Best Show on Turf. That offense set up records, Warner was MVP and the Rams won it all.

Well, if I remember correctly, Peyton set those records before Brady and Brees both did. So basically he'd just be reclaiming the records. For example, Brady beat Peyton's 2004 TD record by only 1 TD in 2007 and he had to play 2 more games than Peyton to set the record by 1 TD higher since Dungy sat Peyton his last 2 games (the Colts had already locked up the #1 seed before the last 2 games of the season).

And I think Peyton won the MVP in 2006, the year he won his Super Bowl title. Right now the Seahawks are looking the best to win the Super Bowl due to the balance of their team.

Oh, give me a break with the curses. I bet you believe in the Madden Curse too. How'd Calvin Johnson do when he graced Madden's cover? 1964 yards. Where was his curse in the 2012 season? Let me guess: "he only had 5 touchdowns." I wish people would put a lid on the whole 'curse' arguments.

The Patriots already beat the Broncos this year. That team has all the talent and the confidence in the world that they can beat every team in the league. They don't need a quarterback to "break a record" in order for them to have an advantage. They already HAVE an advantage over Denver. Manning rarely, rarely gets the best of a Bill Belichick led team, whether he sets a record the year that they play one another or not.

Actually, it depends on how the rest of his NFL career plays out. If Peyton Manning plays another 20 seasons, and performs at this very elite level in football, he will greatly improve his chances of becoming the undisputed all-time greatest quarterback in NFL history, in the future.

No, he should give absolutely no thought to it either way. He should focus only on doing his absolute best to get the Broncos a Super Bowl win. If he gets the records in the process, so be it. If not, who cares?
