More important...college GPA or where one went to college?

Who are employers likely to hire...

3.5-3.8 GPA from average public/state university?

or

3.0-3.2 GPA from top 25 private university, top 20 undergraduate business school?

How much does GPA REALLY matter when it comes to getting hired? Now, I'm not talking about going to work for Wall St. or anything, just an entry-level analyst position for a decent sized firm.

If the firm cares about GPA at all and isn't more interested in work experience, then they're going to take the applicant with the higher one. Or they'll reject both of them and take the person with the 3.5+ from a top 20 school.
