Zebra Danio inactive?

Well, I have 4 zebra danio's and a goldfish (this fair fish has been alive for 6 months and counting) in a 5 gallon tank (don't get on me for it being too small - I'm getting a bigger one soon)

The setup is about 2 days old, and all but one of the fish appear to be loving it. I just added the zebras yesterday, and they were all happy and darting around. It didn't take long for the goldfish to get used to them and sometimes even play with them.

... But this morning I noticed that the brightest colored zebra (and the largest) is just sitting at the top of the tank under the light. When the filter current pulls him about a quarter inch, he just moves back into his position. He also ate just fine - but didn't bother chasing food more than 3 inches in depth.

The other 3 are still having fun and very active.

The water got a little cloudy but the filter seems to be making it better.

I used tap water to fill it, but put in the proper amount of water conditioner, algae inhibitor, and a little bit of anti fungal (suspected the goldfish had fungus - cleared up almost immediately)

Just not quite sure why he's so dormant. Did the other fish reject him and now he's sad?

Any ideas?

Danios are some of the most activefish available. The need to be in a school f 6 or or more and they need to be in a tank that is at least as big as a 20 gallon long.

The goldfish need to be in a tank that is at least 20-30 gallons. I know you say you are getting a bigger tank. But the tank was already much too small for just the goldfish, and now you have added to the problem with more fish.

The tank is probably not cycled, which means it has burningammonia in it. I suggest you rurn the danios. And ge the goldfish into the biggest container you can find until you can get at least a 20 gallon tank with at least a 40 gallon flter.

hi.not to be mean or anything, but your current situation is the same situation that all other fishkeepers who are keeping fishes the wrong way, are experiencing. you put fishes in inappropriate tank sizes and you wonder why they start dying in a day or two. that tank size alone is not even fit for one goldfish and here you are adding more fishes that even deserve to be in a bigger tank than your goldfish. and you expect these poor creatures to stay healthy? so other fishes are not yet affected, but tell you what, keep putting them in that tank and see if all of them would still be alive before the week ends. get some research going on line and maybe you'll see the errors of your fish keeping ways. much luck.
