  • Aquarium Filter Type?

I'm looking for an aquarium filter for my 10g freshwater tank. I have two African Dwarf Frogs, 1 clown pleco, and 4 Zebra Danio's in the tank.

Space is the primary concern. I need a filter that takes up as little space as possible. I'd prefer a filter that I don't have to order off the internet, too. I have a Petco, Petsmart, and Uncle Bill's nearby.

    Thanks!

  • Zebra Danio inactive?

Well, I have 4 zebra danio's and a goldfish (this fair fish has been alive for 6 months and counting) in a 5 gallon tank (don't get on me for it being too small - I'm getting a bigger one soon)

The setup is about 2 days old, and all but one of the fish appear to be loving it. I just added the zebras yesterday, and they were all happy and darting around. It didn't take long for the goldfish to get used to them and sometimes even play with them.

... But this morning I noticed that the brightest colored zebra (and the largest) is just sitting at the top of the tank under the light. When the filter current pulls him about a quarter inch, he just moves back into his position. He also ate just fine - but didn't bother chasing food more than 3 inches in depth.

The other 3 are still having fun and very active.

The water got a little cloudy but the filter seems to be making it better.

I used tap water to fill it, but put in the proper amount of water conditioner, algae inhibitor, and a little bit of anti fungal (suspected the goldfish had fungus - cleared up almost immediately)

Just not quite sure why he's so dormant. Did the other fish reject him and now he's sad?

    Any ideas?

  • How can I leave an anonymous tip with the FAA?

I'm a pilot and I need to leave a tip with the FAA for some (what I feel are) pretty serious actions violating Part 61 (and others) of the FAR's that has me potentially losing thousands of dollars, but I don't know how to leave a tip with the FAA anonymously.

How should I do that? And should I contact the FSDO, the regional office, or OKC?

    Thanks!

  • How to Calculate the Cost of Ownership for a Small Plane?

For a 400hr TT pilot with instrument rating and a commercial pilot's license, what would be the cost of ownership on a 1962 Piper PA-24 Comanche 180 with a 3 bladed McCauley Blackmac propeller, 1 GNS430W NAV/COM, a standard low end Bendix/King audio panel and #2 NAV/COM

The plane has been owned and maintained by a mechanic at my local airport for the last 20 years and has no damage history.

I really have no idea how to come up with a cost per month estimate, including the yearly annual...

    Thanks!

  • How Should I Go About Fighting This Ticket?

A cop pulled me over late last night and cited me for "Unsafe Start From Stopped"

My friends were all sitting around me in traffic, by luck. My best friend was next to me, my other best friend and his girlfriend was behind me, my girlfriend was behind them, and the cop was either behind her or behind the car behind her.

"Unsafe" is REALLY ambiguous, and I want to fight this. I maintain that I didn't do anything unsafe. I did accelerate quicker than my friends, and I let my RPM's build so it made a fair bit of noise, but I did nothing unsafe.

Will having 3 or 4 witnesses help me?

What else do I need to do?

    Thanks!

  • Trying To Figure Out What This Aircraft Is...?

A guy was talking to me about some twin engine plane that used wire brushes for brakes. Apparently since it had no real brakes, there was a wire brush on the tail, and the tail sat low enough, that applying back pressure on the elevator caused it to drag on the ground.

Other than that, he kept saying, "Its the easiest plane to get your multi engine rating in"

    What is he talking about?

  • Everything About VOR Checks?

Well, flying a VOR-A approach the other day, my instructor and I noticed that the VOR's were - off. So he told me to learn everything I can about VOR checks.

Unfortunately I'm not having much luck finding good information on them. Where can I find some good reading on VOR checks?

    Thanks!

  • I want to date my friend's oldest daughter?

Well, I met my friend's oldest daughter today. He's a student pilot at the local airport; I'm just a 19 year old kid who already has his license. Well, she's 17 - and he's done a great job raising her. She's exactly the kind of person I drool over - conservative, religious, smart, and hates cats (I REALLY hate cats).

Is there a way to date her without - well - screwing up things with her dad?

  • Current Job Prospects for a National Test Pilot School Graduate?

Maybe I've just been watching a bit too many X-15 videos, but I was wondering what the current job prospects would be for an NTPS graduate?

I'm getting my degree in aviation from Purdue University (and I currently have my PPL, working on IFR), and I figure that after that I'd sharpen up my math skills, get an engineering degree, and try to get into the NTPS.

It doesn't sound to me like the job of test pilot is as dangerous/glamorous as it once was, but what would it be like in this generation?

    Thanks!

  • What Fish Would Work With Piranhas?

Okay, I'm not wanting to put in other fish with piranhas. I found a great deal on a full tank set up with piranhas. So, how do I get rid of some piranhas and what plants and other fish would work in their place? Thanks!

  • Freshwater Aquarium advice?

I'm looking to set up a freshwater aquarium that I can put on my desk - so about 20 or 30 gallons. I really just don't know how to do it. I was thinking about a school of tetras, maybe some guppies as well. I want it to look nice and eye catching.

What all do I need, and how much can I expect to spend?

  • Day Trip To The Bahamas?

I'm going to be down in Florida this summer, and I'll be taking my checkout flight in a Cessna 182, so I figured I might as well take a day trip out to the Bahamas. Which airports should I look at flying into?

  • Is My Girlfriend Infertile?

My girlfriend and I can't figure out what is going on with her cycle. We had unprotected sex last Thursday and I didn't pull out. It was supposed to be a safe day. That day she bled a little while she was cleaning up after sex. We had also had unprotected sex several times earlier in the month, but I faithfully pulled out every time with no issue or close calls. She was supposed to start her period on Sunday. The pregnancy test (can't remember the brand, but it was one of those early detection ones) came back negative. She had some general PMS symptoms but those have subsided, and she didn't have any of the extra symptoms associated with pregnancy.

Here's where things get hairy. We were just thinking things over, and realized that she never showed any of the hormonal (at least outwardly) signs of releasing an egg. When she releases her egg every month, she is constantly in the mood, but she just wasn't this month.

    Could she be infertile?

    Thanks!

  • Could the Launch Holdbacks Prevent a Fully Throttled Up Saturn V From Liftoff?

At 1.1 million lbs of thrust after the launch weight of the Saturn V is subtracted, could the launch holdbacks actually prevent the Saturn V from lifting off with its engines fully throttled up? I've just been rather curious about this.

  • Advantages Of Being a Nurse Rather Than A Doctor?

This may sound a little selfish, but here it goes. I'm moving to Alaska in a year or two. My girlfriend is a pre med biology major. A few days ago, she said she thought it might just be better for her to become a nurse, rather than a doctor. I'd like that, too, because med school is expensive, stressful, and we'd be apart from each other for months at a time - which I just can't handle. So, I'd like to try to convince her to become a nurse if I can.

What are the advantages of being a nurse rather than a doctor? Thanks!

  • How Do I Secretly Measure My Girlfriend's Ring Size?

My girlfriend never got a class ring (in fact, she doesn't have any at all), so she has no idea what ring size she is. That's a problem, because I wanted to surprise her with a proposal at my family's big Christmas dinner this winter. I don't want to get her a ring that doesn't fit and then have to get it re sized.

Is there a way to measure her finger (in her sleep or something) without her knowing?

  • Questions About Moving Out?

Well, I'm 19 and about to start flying night cargo operations and that will make me about $30,000/year. I have no car payment or student loans. My driving record is clean, so insurance isn't that expensive.

I'm looking to move out to the North side of Indianapolis (but not inner city).

Will that $30,000/year give me the ability to move into a 1 bedroom apartment (they seem to be hovering around $600/month) and all the other expenses?

    Thanks!

  • Glare Reducing Sunglasses?

My last sunglasses that I got at the mall were perfect for flying. Unfortunately a few weeks ago they fell off my head and out the open window of the 172 I was flying. Fitting end to them.

Problem is that my backup sunglasses just suck. They almost make haze worse - and the glare is insane, especially when flying glass panel.

So I'm ready to spend about $100 on a good pair of sunglasses online. My only requirement is that they're aviator style. Yes, I know that sounds arrogant and stereotypical - but my head is slightly abnormally large so they're the only ones that look good.

    Thanks!

  • RCS Control System Footage?

This is just driving me a little nuts. I'm not a conspiracy theorist or any of that crap, but I love a pretty picture. Frank Borman said that when stationkeeping with Gemini 6 on the dark side of the Earth, he could see the RCS jets firing on the other capsule. I've poured over dozens of hours of footage of spacecraft in stationkeeping, but I just can't see the RCS jets in any of them.

Does it not show up on camera? Or am I just not looking at the right footage?

Can someone tell me it doesn't show up, or direct me towards some good footage?

    Thanks!

  • Which Mailbox Service?

I'm about to order a rather large package that my room mates can't see - and I mean - significantly large - the size of an old cathode ray tube TV. Well, my room mates can't see it. That's a problem, since they're home more than I am, and its a rental house.

I can't really decide which mailbox service to rent for a month. The package is being shipped via FedEx.

Anyone have any ideas, and a rough idea on the costs?
