Glare Reducing Sunglasses?

My last sunglasses that I got at the mall were perfect for flying. Unfortunately a few weeks ago they fell off my head and out the open window of the 172 I was flying. Fitting end to them.

Problem is that my backup sunglasses just suck. They almost make haze worse - and the glare is insane, especially when flying glass panel.

So I'm ready to spend about $100 on a good pair of sunglasses online. My only requirement is that they're aviator style. Yes, I know that sounds arrogant and stereotypical - but my head is slightly abnormally large so they're the only ones that look good.

Thanks!

Update:

I fly out of an airport right at the limits of a major city. Haze and smog aren't occasional things. If there ISN'T, I'm more concerned than when there is haha

You can not go wrong with any Ray-Bans, Randolphs, or Serengeti Sunglass.

I have a pair of polarized Ray-Bans and they are awesome. Some people dont like them for flying if they have glass panels or handheld GPS,but I have not had a problem.

The 1912 hotel is trying to attract techies to its Nob Hill site Stanford University namesake and railroad magnate Leland Stanford mansion stood before it was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake and fire. (The hotel is undergoing a sweeping update in 2014, a transformation that includes supplying iPads and tech gadgets for use in the lobby, a huge flat screen TV showing livefeed video of San Francisco Bay and city views, taken from the hotel rooftop camera, and installing an electric car charging station). As of late March 2014, the hotel lobby bar began offering Google Glasswearing patrons (some of whom probably attended Stanford) a free drink; it asks that they post to social media a photo of their free cocktail with the hashtag stanfordcourt.

Glare is normally caused by reflections from the sun. There are many ways of polarising light, and reflection often partially polarises light. One place where polarised glasses are very useful is looking at sunsets over the ocean. This is because the sun's reflection off the waves are more or less horizontal, and this is the direction in which the light is polarised. Polaroid sunglasses use a vertical polarised filter, so this glare does not enter the glasses. By polarising in one direction the glasses will of course cut th ebrightness ofany unpolarised source of light by a half. Other sunglasses simply reduce the amount of light that passes into your eyes, but cannot target glare specifically.

Ray-Bans, Randolphs, and Serengetis are all top-of-the-line brands and excellent since cost is not a concern. The only other suggestion I would offer is to consider brown-tinted lenses over the green-grays. Brown lenses do an excellent job of reducing haze and are just as effective in reducing glare and intensity as the green-grays.

I like Serengeti drivers or Ray Bans w grey/black lenses. Just be sure they are not polarized lenses or you may blank out the glass panel at some angles.

It would be a nice change of pace to see their eyes light up for a change on christmas morning, and hearing them brag to their buddy's about the cool new gift they got. All men love gadgets especially the new one's that no one else has. The first gift idea I have is these Oakley MP3 player sunglasses.

There you go, choose the ones you like the best, avoid the polarised.

And next time don't stick your head out through the window.
