One of the Bible authors claimed?

that at one point, the entire earth was underwater (there's good scientific evidence that supports his claim).

How could he know the earth was indeed at one time underwater?

Update:

@NeilsBohred: even if that were true, how would you explain the fact the author was correct about a submerged earth?

    .

    For the same reason that he knew that;

On Day One, God created the heaven & earth,

On Day Two, God Created the division between land & sea

On Day Three, God Created all the vegetation

On Day Four, God Created the Sun, moon and stars

On Day Five, God Created the swimming and flying creatures

On Day Six, God Created all the land animals, including mankind

    On Day Seven, God rested

How did Moses know all this - God told him,

Just as God told him about the Flood that Noah survived

    There are two theories:

    1. Common oral tradition or written history.

    2. Devine revelation.

No matter which route you take, it points out that geological dating is wrong.

Now the reason I mention item 1 is that the Bible is not the only place a reference is found for this event. The fact other societies have this in their history is one of the things which is cited as proof such an event happened in recorded history and that geological dates are off in calling the event prehistoric.

  • There is only one author of the Bible and that is God Himself:

All of Scripture is God-breathed; in its inspired voice, we hear useful teaching, rebuke, correction, instruction, and training for a life that is right (2 Timothy 3: 16)

Of course He would know the Earth was underwater because He created ALL things and God is omniscient; He knows ALL things.

    God bless <)))><

Because God flooded the earth with rain and had Noah build a boat before He flooded it. I have been to deserts in the USA and actually saw imprints where seashells had been. For those who don't believe you can watch Easy Rider the movie....when they are either on the mountain with the hippie or at the commune with the hippie look at the rock behind Fonda aka Capt. America. You will see a seashell imprint. Anyway, Noah and his family and many animals survived the flood and this is how we know. Read Genesis the first book of the Bible.

Believers would claim that he was told by god. I'm not one of those people. He was likely wrong anyway. There is no evidence to support the claim that the earth was covered with water during the existence of humanity. It was during the time before the rise of the continents. That was billions of years ago. Only primitive lifeforms existed at the time.

I haven't seen such proof yet. Continents rise from undersea due to tectonic activity, but that was millions of years ago and didn't happen simultaneously

At some point these authors were in contact with a prophet of God Almighty and that is when he got the instructions and ideas.

Because a stopped clock is still correct twice a day.

Because God told Moses when he was in the desert and he wrote it down.
