This Christmas will herald a special celebration for an American woman who credits her extraordinary ability to walk for the first time in 23 years to the powers of a British spiritual healer.

Delia Knox was paralysed from the waist down on Christmas Day 1987 when a drink driver ploughed into her car, according to a report in Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper.

But this year she visited a spiritual healer – and walked again.

Mrs Knox said: “This has turned my world upside down. I can stand in my kitchen and walk around my house.

"I am in awe at seeing the power of God not just in my life but all over the world as a result of this miracle."

Mrs Knox was a passenger in a car in Toronto, Canada, when it was hit by a drink driver.

Mrs Knox lost all feeling in her legs and had almost given up hope of walking again, the Daily Mail said.

When she agreed to attend a meeting with preacher Nathan Morris earlier this year, she had no idea healings were happening.

She said: "I wanted to get in the presence of God and to see my good friends Pastor John and Brenda Kilpatrick. I knew it was an evangelistic meeting but I didn’t know healings were taking place. To be honest I’ve stayed away from healing meetings.

The spiritual healer called Mrs Knox’s husband forward and prayed for Mrs Knox.

“Then all of a sudden I felt a voice which I knew was the Holy Spirit saying to me,'Get up', and I felt feeling in my legs and then faith came on me to walk.

“I knew this was my night to walk out of the chair.

“I walked and walked and walked and felt I had entered another realm," she told the Daily Mail.
