[urgent] My dogs puking blood?
First some facts, uhh. Shes about 7 years old, shes a maltese bichon.
Firstly, she got hit by a car manyyyy years ago, probably within the first year of getting her, which made her jaw slant sideways, so her tongue always sticks out an inch or so on one side :P
Last night my parents noticed that she was bleeding from her mouth, and they figured since it was the first snow of the year, she accidentally went and licked the shovel handle outside, and got her tongue stuck, and she ripped it back, Causing her to bleed. But she was bleeding all last night.. We figured it would kinda just clog up and heal itself, but apparently it wasnt her tongue?
Tonight, she randomly puked pure blood. Its 11 PM, and i live in the middle of north dakota, so there is no 24/7 vets we can go to, plus its -40 degrees out.. sooo.
Shes in a kennel now, just because we don't want her staining the carpet. She first puked at about.. 8 o'clock, its now 11 o'clock, and she's only puked once since then. I'm not sure if it IS possibly a mouth wound, and the blood just drained into her stomach and it rejected it.. a day later?
Idk, im really worried though. I reseached it and someone said to press lightly against her stomach and see if she reacts. I did it, and she didn't react at all. Shes sitting in her kennel whining and scratching, so i assume shes not feeling horribly ill. Shes been drinking water regularly.
I have no idea if this is serious, or if its just kind of a.. bizarre incident.
Please give me all information that you can think it could be :(
Also, in case anyone knows, shes also been licking her left front paw CONSTANTLY for months now, not sure why. Its not red or swollen, nothing. She just licks the hell out of it. Her entire leg is full of blood because shes been licking it nonstop while shes been bleeding. I have no idea whats effecting her? :3
Another thing i forgot to add!!!!!
She doesn't seem to have any blood in her piss or ****.. So i have no idea :(
@howldine, her licking her leg for months hasn't caused the blood sores, its just the fact that.. whatever she did to get injured and has blood in her mouth, shes been licking her leg with a bloody mouth, causing the blood to transfer from the mouth, to her leg. :P
but they didn't ask me to do this, they are taking her to the vet first thing in the morning. I just thought id ask online to know what to expect, and to see if there was anything i could to with her in the meantime. Im hoping to stay awake with her all night unless something happens.. And happen to have a big ASVAB test tomorrow but dog military ;)
In case anyone cares.. the vet put her to sleep this morning :'(

There is almost always a vet somewhere close that can come if she continues to puke blood or gets any worse. I live in no-where Kansas (10 miles to the closest town, of about 100 people) and there is an vet who would still come to our house in the middle of the night if we need. We just have his home number and can call him if we ever needed him. Do some research for your area and see if you can find a hometown vet that does home calls. That usually means they can come if she gets any worse.
Otherwise I would rush her to a vet first thing in the morning! It sounds serious enough she needs a vet ASAP!

Regardless of the current problem, licking a paw for MONTHS to cause bloody sores on her leg...this dog needs to see a vet, even if the weather is bad. As for vomiting blood- well, maybe you can get her there in time. You sound young. Your parents should be asking these questions of a trained professional, not you online getting maybe not too good answers

I would take her to the vet tomorrow morning if that is possible, but for tonight it sounds like you have done all you can. The fact that she is eating and drinking is a good sign. I am sorry your dog is sick, and I hope she feels better soon!

You say you have no idea if this is serious! If this was happening to you would you think it might be serious? Would you just go to your room and stay there or would you hot foot it to the nearest emergency dept. of a hospital no matter how far away it is?
Your poor dog will be lucky to survive this.

Being sick and it containing blood needs a vet so your parents should be calling an emergency vet now and running it past them now .
