What is a good Gift for a golfer?

I have a friend who likes his equipment, but really struggles with his short game. He does not seem interested in a new wedge.

A. Book b. Video C. Club fitting ( wedges ) d. Lesson with a local Pro ?

Please give a little reasoning behind your answer or some experience you can draw upon.

i am an avid golfer and play every weekend; i cherish my ball collection. you can buy him something to hang on a wall that he can place like 50 balls in from the various courses he plays as he travels and plays other courses

Lessons would be most helpful. You can't fix a fundamental error in your game just by buying a new club.

A book or video would be the second choice. But the book or video can't give your friend any feedback.

A qualified professional can watch your friend swing, and give him pointers for specific things to work on.

A lesson with a local pro should be a very good gift. Let a Pro teach him to fix his short game. No other thing is more useful than this.

    Hi tiger7377,

When you say "short game", if you're talking about from 120 yds in, any one of those things could help. If you're talking about pitching and chipping around the green, there's no need for club fitting.

Just remember, that no matter what option you go with, your friend is going to have to practice. That's really the only way he's going to get better.

If your friend will practice, then any of your ideas could help his short game. If not, then you're probably going to be wasting your money.
