Opinions on demanding pregnancy test?

My mom came up to me when I was watching a movie and told me to go take a pregnancy test. Didn't bother to ask me to take it but demanded. I know I am not pregnant. I asked her why she wants me to take it and she said so it can ease her

MInd a little. Has this happened to anyone with their mom before? I didn't take it cause Im not gonna take it just for her satisfaction. Plus it's none of her business. I do live in her house BUT I do my part to stay here. I clean up after every single person in this house(6 people) do everyone's laundry do dishes, dust ,cleaning, anything in the house that needs cleaning I do. Do you thin I should've taken it? It's my business. Even when I go out for the night she expects me to tell her where I'm going and whe I'll be back. I'm gonna be 21! She doesn't need to know everything. She's getting on my nerves!

Well why does she want you to take one in the first place? And why are you insistent on not complying if you know you aren't? If anything, not taking the test and being stubborn about it will only make it worse (fighting fire with fire basically) with her. Is it because she found out you're sexually active and/or have missed a period or two? It sounds like she is controlling, which I can see why you'd want to be obstinate about it (can relate to having had a controlling mother very much so). Not to mention that at home pregnancy tests are not all they're cracked up to be reliability wise, especially if it's early on. Even the blood pregnancy tests can be wrong (not very likely but still, biology is a funny thing). In that case, a sonogram may be needed to have a visual examination.

Good luck with your mother and with everything else. Keep us posted!

@ Tina, sure her mom may be her "authority" because she is under her roof; however, that doesn't mean that we don't have our own minds, personal lives, WILL POWER, etc. I seriously hope you're not like this girl's mother. We don't need anymore control freaks in this world than we already have roaming on this planet.

She is your mom which means she is your authority. If she tells you to take the test, take it! It doesn't matter if your almost 21 or not... Just because your a big girl now doesn't mean you don't have to listen to her.
