how to tame my hamster?

I had my hammy for 7 months now. Hes a long haired syrian hamster and I want to get a closer bond with him. I give him veges, treats to gain his trust little by little but everytime I take him out to play with him or socialize he can't sit still and always tries to run away from me. Like I see other peoples hamster and they are perfectly calm and still and I really want to know how I can get him like that. He gladly takes treats out of my hand but holding him or trying to bond with him is not really working out. I know you guys may say oh it takes a while but I've been at it for months and theres no progress. Any advice or tips ?

Open his cage and put your hand, palm up, on the floor of the cage. Put a treat in the palm of your hand. Do not move, even if he walks on your hand and takes the food. Let him get used to your hand being in the cage. Do this a few times for a few days.

On the 3rd or 4th day, try to pet him while he sits near your hand. At this point he should associate "hand" with "food" so even if you don't put anything in your hand, he should come up to your hand and not freak out when you pet him. If he runs away, do not chase him. When he's OK with sitting and letting you pet him, it's time to try to pick him up. Scoop him up from the side - not the back or the front, and not the top. He'll freak out and think you're a hawk or something. Just gently scoop him up in your hand. Again, if he runs away don't chase him.

Now try to hold him or pet him.

If he still seems scared, feed him a treat when you pick him up.

After awhile he'll get used to you, even without needing food.

Start simple. Take a tissue with your scent on it. (If your a girl than tuck it into your bra for a couple hours if your a boy than idk put it in your sock or something. :) Put the tissue in your hamsters normal sleeping area. Change the tissue every day for maybe 3 days, and then put your hand face up in the bottom of the cage. Maybe set your hamsters favorite treat in your palm as incentive. Most likely your hamster will come investigating. If he/she crawls on your hand and starts eating the treat then slowly pick up the hamster and start petting it. If it freaks out, then slowly set it back in its cage. Try this until your hamster comes to except your hand. Give your hamster as much times as wanted.
