Does it matter if the administration is truthful?

I recently asked a question about the latest administration lie about Obama's uncle. Several replies end their comment by saying, "What does it matter"? My question is, does it matter if the White House tells the truth or not? If your answer is it doesn't matter, am I correct in believing your take on life is Whatever we say or do, regardless if it is true or not, its the way we as a society should live?

Did Bush tell the truth about Iraq... I think 4,000 dead Americans is a little more important than some relative of a president.

The reason the WH "lies" about the uncle don't matter is that the GOP response is the same regardless of whether the comments were lies or not. If the WH says X, the GOP screams lies. When X turns out to be the case they scream Y is a lie.

So, I don't care what the GOP says. Period. And no, I don't believe the WH lied about the uncle. But, I don't care.

I don't see what "lie" took place. A staffer made a comment a year ago that he didnt fact check. When the president was asked directly this week, he gave a factual answer.

We always know the right is less truthful, look at their track record.
