How to limit my family's liability?
My husband is an active alcoholic, who seems to specialize in drunk driving. I don't intend to divorce him, I hope he will get over his addiction, and life can go on. However, I am very afraid that he will eventually get in a wreck and hurt someone who will sue us. Everything except his retirement checks are in my name, but I don't think that protects me or my family in case of a lawsuit. Any ideas?

So it's OK if he destroys other families as long as yours keeps your wealth? You two are a pair.
Try some therapy to get over yourself and your amazing greed. You are actually plotting on how to make a victim suffer more. You need to see how wrong this is.
For him, get him in rehab. Waiting for his to kill someones child is not an answer to anything.

divorce him.
afterward you can live together [assuming your state doesn't recognize common law marriages] and you'll be partially shielded.
however, if you knowingly give someone who is drunk the car keys -- you're liable no matter what.
