I don't understand this comic?

Why would changing the number of hydrogen's valence electrons from one to two make everything explode? Someone explain why everything is exploding in the last panel.

At first I thought the genie was splitting the hydrogen atom in order to make it have two valence electrons... but then I realized that didn't make any sense. Or did it?

Not splitting it; what element near H has 2 valence electrons? When you FUSE H atoms to make this element what happens? (Actually you have to fuse 4 H atoms)
