What's a believable lie for how I got a deep cut (stitches)?
Long story short, I have a hypertrophic scar from an old wound that required stitches at the time but was untreated. I despise the scar and am too self conscious about it to live with it any longer. Unfortunately, I am a broke college student and cannot afford any of the pricey scar removal treatments. I've already tried a million OTC treatments and am at my wit's end. I read that doctors will sometimes cut out hypertrophic scars and stitch up the wounds into neat little lines. I am contemplating cutting the scar out myself and then heading to the ER to receive my stitches. I am afraid, however, of being put on suicide watch or something else annoying if I tell them I did the injury to myself. I have no desire to self-harm, only to be rid of this scar. I also need an excuse to tell my parents for why I needed stitches. Does anyone have any believable stories for how I would get a gaping wound on my arm? Please only respond if you have suggestions, I do not want to be told that this is a "bad idea". It's not perfect but it's the only option that I have. I've had this scar for 5 years, I can't have people asking me about it anymore (it was originally a self-harm scar and I hate when people figure that out). I just want to leave behind that chapter of my past and stop being reminded of it. Thank you!
3 AnswersInjuries7 years agoIs it normal for the floor to look like it's moving?
Sometimes the floor will look like it's shifting and writhing to me. Same things with walls, tables, and other flat surfaces with markings on them. It only ever happens whenever I'm "out of it," y'know, kinda tired and not really in my head. It's more likely to happen if I've taken my antidepressant medication, but it also happens when I don't take it. Why does this happen and does anyone else experience this on a regular (weekly/daily) basis? Just curious if I should ask my doc about it or not. Thanks.

Why would changing the number of hydrogen's valence electrons from one to two make everything explode? Someone explain why everything is exploding in the last panel.

At first I thought the genie was splitting the hydrogen atom in order to make it have two valence electrons... but then I realized that didn't make any sense. Or did it?

4 AnswersMathematics8 years agoGuys: when determining a girl's attractiveness, is her body or her face more important to you?
OKAY I KNOW THIS IS A DREADFULLY SUPERFICIAL QUESTION but I'm curious. If there were two girls, and one had a face that was like a 6 or a 7 but a body that was a perfect 10 and the other had a perfect 10 face but a 6 or a 7 body, which girl would you think was more attractive?
What if the first girl had an 8 face and 10 body and the second a 10 face and 8 body, which then?
What if the first had a 1 face and a 10 body and the other a 10 face and a 1 body, which then?

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS GUY'S NAME IS OR WHAT HIS BOOK IS CALLED OR DO YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE A LINK TO THIS VIDEO??? Thanks
2 AnswersMedia & Journalism8 years agoDoes plastic wrapping windows in the winter work?
I'm about to move into an apartment room that I have been warned gets very cold in the winter (I live in MN). However, the person telling me this also mentioned that the windows had not been plastic wrapped the previous winter. In her opinion, however, plastic wrapping the windows would do no good because according to her "you can actually feel the cold coming up through the floor." I think it's possible though that what she felt coming in through the floor was actually the drafts from the window sinking to the ground and spreading. Would plastic wrapping my windows eliminate this problem? Or would the room still be cold/I should request a different one? Thanks
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs8 years agoDo cats only get separation anxiety when they're alone?
I have a six year old cat who acts like my shadow. For a long time I thought that she followed me around so diligently because she loved me, since I give her an awful lot of attention, but now I'm worried she might have separation anxiety since whenever I leave the house she hides from everyone else, and that is apparently one of the symptoms. From the website I was looking at though, it sounded as if it's only possible for cats to have separation anxiety when they are left alone in a house. We have another 4 people living in the house, and another cat, and a dog. I always assumed she just hid because she's kind of skittish and dislikes the dog and loud people so to her it wasn't worth coming out of her hiding place to interact with people that she barely even liked and risk coming across the dog/my dad or sister (both are loud). Is this the reason why she's hiding or do you think it's because she has separation anxiety? Is it even possible for her to have separation anxiety in this situation?

1 AnswerDrama8 years agoWhy does my kitten keep peeing on my bed?? Desperate, please help!!!?
I have a kitten who is 8-9ish weeks old, I think. I am fostering him for a shelter that I volunteer for. When I received the kitten and his brothers, I was assured that they were litterbox trained, and for the most part, it has been true. None of them ever have accidents, well, sometimes they do but it's very very rare. I have a tiny apartment that consists of a small bedroom and an almost equally-sized bathroom. There is no kitchen, it is basically like a dorm room. In this space, I have a litterbox in both the bathroom and the bedroom. The kitten that I am having trouble with knows how to use the litterbox and uses it for his poops, but when it comes to peeing, he is convinced that my bed is the place to go. He will actually cry at the side of the bed until I pick him up, and then he starts squatting and digging and I have to rush him to a litter box. Sometimes he just continues digging in the litterbox and then does his business, but other times he will crawl out of the litter box and try to get back on my bed. I then have to repeat the transfer, but sometimes he will even crawl out a third time, and a fourth, and as many times as it takes until he finally just goes in the litterbox. I have even placed the litterbox next to him on the bed when he starts his squatting, but he ignores it. I pick him up and put him in it and he crawls out onto my bed. Bottom line is, this is not an accident that he goes on my bed, and he is not "forgetting" where the litter box is. He is doing this intentionally and I don't know why.
What I need to know specifically:
He was obviously separated from his mother too young: she died. He is the runt of his brothers, which I know means he could develop slower than them. Is this a development problem? Will he outgrow it?
I have tried washing my sheets but he still goes on the bed. However, he always sniffs around a lot before he goes. What is he sniffing for? He also always goes in the spot where I lay when I sleep. All of his pee spots are right under my back when I sleep. Does my scent have anything to do with this bad habit?
I am trading these guys off to another foster mom in 9 days because I can't keep them anymore and she will have some openings at her home. Do I need to worry about him doing this in someone else's bed? Or will he leave strange beds alone? This also goes for when he's adopted: is he going to pee in the adoptor's bed?
How can I get him to stop doing this?
Any insight into why he is doing this and how to stop it would be great. Thanks in advance!
1 AnswerCats8 years agoHow to find my plumbing vent?
I am renting a room in a house that has its own bathroom. I've noticed that whenever my shower is draining, my toilet will start bubbling. I read online that this could be due to a clogged plumbing vent and that the solution is to unclog it. Apparently the plumbing vent is a pipe that sticks out of the roof, so I went up on the roof today expecting to find 1 or 2 pipes. There was like 10. And a lot of them looked exactly alike. How can I tell which one is the plumbing vent for my bathroom? I think it has its own vent, I think my bathroom may have been an addition or is newly renovated or something. Also, I'd rather not get my landlord involved in this, so please, just a description of what I'm looking for would be really helpful.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs8 years agoI got bleach in my eye?
I was scrubbing my tub with this disinfectant stuff when I thought I felt a droplet of something fly into my eye. My eye does not burn or sting or anything. If I had gotten bleach in my eye, would I feel it? Or was it just water? I don't want to flush my eye for 20 minutes :/ How can I tell if I should or not?
2 AnswersOptical8 years agoDoes Comet Cleanser with Bleach Disinfect?
I need to disinfect my bathtub, so I used comet cleanser with bleach. However, I found another bottle of comet in my cabinet that said "disinfectant" on it. The cleanser with bleach does not say this on it. Will it disinfect my tub, or should I go back over it with the bottle that has "disinfectant" written on it?
2 AnswersCleaning & Laundry8 years agoHow to get a job at a place like Google, Yahoo, or Facebook?
I was just reading in the paper today how internet companies basically offer the coolest perks ever as a means of attracting and retaining top talent and I gotta say... for someone who's about to enter college, it doesn't look like such a bad road to go down! I'm just wondering though, what do you even call employees at those companies? Engineers or...? Like, what are they? What do they do? What did they major in in college to get to where they are? Any insight would be helpful, thank you!
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)8 years agoCan anyone tell me what TV show this is?
I only saw part of an episode but let me know if this description rings any bells!
There was a guy who was walking around with no equipment in like... I wanna say scotland? and he was trying to survive for a period of time. He finds an overturned canoe by a lake and makes a shelter and a fire out of it, and he finds a plastic bag either in the canoe or on the ground and he uses that to catch some fingerling fish. He eats 1 raw, just gulps it down, then cooks two more and keeps them in his pocket for later, talking about how protein is important. It's really windy and cold-looking where he is, and there is little foliage,.. just a lot of plains and the lake he found. The overturned canoe/boat thing was rotting and looked like it had been painted white at one point (if my memory is correct)
It's not man vs wild, but it may be survivorman. If so, can anyone tell me what episode this is? Thanks!
2 AnswersReality Television8 years agoWhy do more authors write in past tense instead of present?
Is it better to write in past tense or something? The only book I can think off the top of my head that is written in the present tense is the hunger games. Why do so many more authors opt for past tense?
1 AnswerBooks & Authors9 years agoWhen Harry Potter came out, did it inspire all sorts of copycat stuff?
Like, twilight has SOO much copycat stuff. There's a million vampire and werewolf books and tv shows. I was just wondering, I mean, Harry Potter is like the biggest book series ever, so did it have a reaction like this from the copycats when it first came out? Or did everyone kind of leave it alone since it took so long for all of the books to come out/ everyone just admitted whatever they'd do to copy it would just like pathetic next to the real thing? :P Ha, just wondering.

1 AnswerOther - Education9 years agowhat's a nice way to say "ordering around??" Resume Help?
Hello, I am about to move to California from Minnesota. I need a job, so I am writing a resume to send to employers online so I can maybe have some interviews set up right away when I get out there. I'm interested in becoming a server, although I've never been one before, but I have been a lead greeter at a buffalo wild wings for the past two years, so in my resume I am including all of the skills that I have from being a lead greeter. Anyways, my job as a lead greeter was essentially to tell the other greeters what to do. I had the master plan: I knew where I wanted to seat people, what order I wanted to seat them, what tables I wanted cleaned and when, when I wanted someone to go clean the bathrooms, and any other random tasks that I wanted done (ex sweeping the floors). Then, I would tell my other two greeters to do all of these things, because I had to stay at the front podium so that I could greet the guests and quote the wait. It was a sometimes stressful job that required major multitasking, good people relations, good observation skills, and quick thinking and planning. It was a lot of maintaining conversations with guests while simultaneously ordering my other greeters around. Anyways, in my resume, I basically have this all summed up as "leading the other greeters," but I don't really feel as if that communicates just what my job entailed and just how much leadership my managers had placed on me. I mean, "leading the other greeters" could very well be interpreted as "I always had a good attitude and worked hard and others followed my example!" but I mean it as in "I was put in charge by my managers and the other greeters couldn't do anything without my permission." How can I more effectively convey that I was basically in charge of the other greeters and that my job was to order them around on my resume? I obviously don't just want to say "I ordered the other greeters around" because that doesn't give the right message either. Help me please!!!
Also, when I say ordering, I mean that as in I just told them what to do, but I always did it in a kind way. There was lots of please's and thank you's and I was really good friends with everyone I worked with. So, I just have no idea how to word this on my resume.
