I have a service engine light on the code was for the maf sensor I replaced it last night. it still isn't running quit rite. Does the computer have to slowly reprogram it's self? And how do you reset the service engine light? It has two service engine lights on.

Remove one of the battery cables for a few minutes to reset the check engine light. It may take a few miles of driving, or several starts & stops (depends on the car) to let the ecm relearn the parameters of the car. If the maf code is still there, then the replacement is defective, or there is a leak in your air filter assembly, or a defect in wiring going to the maf sensor. Good luck.

ALSO, please do not listen to idiots with DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY!!!!!!!!!
Not sure where WB gets his info but he should at least work on cars for a living & not just post random babbling on here. Road testing a car does not relearn any parameters. Those parameters in the PCM are burned into it & part of the programming inside that module, only time you need to road test to reset anything are the I/M flags for emission inspections, THATS IT!!!!!!
If you have a code stored in your radio, it will LOC the radio once you remove battery power & if you don't have the unlock code, you will have to visit the dealership. Not only that but if you have any issues with the security system. Just before they fail completely, they store the value & as long as that value is still present, it allows the car to start. Right now its in pass mode but once you remove battery power from the car, it also clears that pass value & if you have any type of Security issue on the car, it will not crank or start!!!!
If you have the ability to look up codes, use that scan tool to clear the codes. If it comes back on once it is cleared means the fault is still present. BUT NEVER DISCONNECT THE BATTERY!!!! ONLY MORONS DO THAT
You have to clear the code. No, the PCM doesn't program itself. And if its not running right means you have a problem. What other codes were stored??? My guess is you used a aftermarket part which causes problems as well. I never use that junk. More problems than they are worth. I stick with GM AC Delco parts, never had an issue with their stuff
But need to see what codes are stored, need to look at the engine data & see if there is a misfire occurring & which cylinder. But the MAF sensor may not be the issue, if you have something else messing up. Sometimes the PCM will set a code for something else even though the MAF wasn't the one having the problem. This is where you need to have automotive skills & know what your doing. If not, Any GM dealership can help you with that
Usually a MAF sensor issue will also set a P0171, P0174. Any leaks in the air cleaner after the MAF sensor will cause that code. Any vacuum leaks will also cause that code

It has a check engine light for the engine and emissions and a service vehicle light for other items not related to the engine or emissions.
