Would your parents count as peer pressure?

I'm writing a peer pressure essay for school and I wanted to know if your parents are considered to be your peers in this case. Or can it only be people your age?

    Only people your age. Peers is not only those your same age, but also people with the same experience level and going through the same things as you.

    Peers are equals so they mean people of your own age. Parents are not peers.

    I don't think they count as peers but, it seems reasonable to include it in your essay.
