Geometric sequence and how to write a rule for the nth term?

ok so so i have an=3( )n-1

I need to find the common ratio of 3,-2,4/3,-8/9.... and use this formula an=a1rn-1 the n-1 is like a power kinda of like 2^2 on a calculator answer would be 4

CAN YOU SOLVE THIS ONE ALEX AND HOW DO I CHOOSE BEST ANSWER ??

    The first thing to know is the common ration. The common ratio is the number you multiply each term by to get the next one. To get the common ration, divide the first term by the second term. If you want you can continue to divide the second term by the third term to check. In this case your common ration is -1.5. The answer to this is an=3(-1.5)^(n-1). You probably know this, but the n is the first term which is given and it is 3. The answer depends on n (obviously).
