What subwoofer should I get for my car?
I have a 2005 Infiniti g35 coupe with a factory stereo. I wanted to replace the stereo so I could have an aux input but I you know anything about these cars you know it is impossible to replace the stereo without replacing the whole dash, which gets pricy. I dont have a ton of room in the trunk so I wasn't sure what kind of sub to get. I'm assuming I need a single. I also wanted an amplifier but I don't really know anything about those. Also, I'm not really sure about soundproofing my trunk. If anyone could help me out that would be great! Thanks.

Have you looked into the Metra 95-760 integration kit? It will (may) allow you to fit an aftermarket receiver, however Fit it and Finish leaves something to be desired. Otherwise, a sound processor will be the second/1st best thing you can do for your car. Look into JBL MS-8, or Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty, and some other more expensive players.
I don't think anyone uses AUX inputs in the car anymore, everything is going digital (USB). If you want iPod integration look into iSimple Gateway, Audiovox MediaBridge, Grom Audio... try to avoid the 'FM modules'.
As for the subwoofer(s) - so many variables. It depends on what you want and your budget. For example, I was impressed with the new Infiniti Kappa subwoofers, very very musical, very clean, don't need a lot of power, great upper bass range if you like to hear kickdrums in alternative/rock music. Unbelievable for $122 @ sonicelectronix.com. If you wand very loud and in your face type of bass, these subs might not be the best choice, but for sound quality I'm really thinking about pickup up one of these next year.

I would recommend going with a jl audio subwoofer or if you don't want to go to pricey go with diamond audio 10's. I'd recommend them being ported. As for soundproofing your trunk it really isn't needed, dynamat isn't gonna work that great in your trunk. So all in all i think you should settle with a diamond audio 10 with no dynamat.
