So We Can Agree Now Alexander Was Always A "Bum" and Never worthy for Mayweather?
it's pretty clear now, as I've mentioned many times, that Alexander was never in the league of Khan or Mayweather, and never a worthy opponent for either fighter. Alexander has always been a "bum" (going by the terminology of some other posters), now you less-knowledgeable boxing fans know the truth, try to learn from the lessons freely provided.
He couldn't even beat a guy that Khan's last opponent drew with.. Imagine if he had fought Khan tonight, there's almost no doubt that Devon would have either quit like he did against Bradley, been straight knocked out within the 12 rounds or lost a very wide UD to Khan..
Now let's stop all this nonsense about Alexander ever being a legit Khan or Mayweather opponent. It's time for Mayweather vs Khan to happen.

Ghanzan ... you might actually have a point this time. Floyd mayweather will not have a viable opponent at welterweight.
Timothy bradley and Manny pacquiao is signed with Top rank promotions.
Kell brook, Shawn porter, and Keith thurman have a small fan base.
He already fought Marquez, Guerrero, and Ortiz.
Danny garcia declined the fight. He is not moving up.
Lastly, Adrien broner is his friend.
It will hurt me inside to say this but he should fight Amir khan in May and Erislandy lara in September.
People will say that Lara is not ready so he will need to beat Canelo.

It's hard for me to label a professional fighter a bum but..................if you're comparing Devon Alexander to Floyd Mayweather, then yes, he's a bum. Devon is a good boxer. However, he's AWFUL Boring.
.
It's easy to place Amir Khan above Alexander. The fact is that they're on about the same level. The difference is that Khan is much more pleasing to watch. He's not the smartest fighter, which is why he was beaten by Garcia and almost knocked out by Maidana. However, he does try for the knockout.
.
Alexander fights like he doesn't like to get hit, much less hurt. I'm not suggesting that he shouldn't protect himself. In fact, Mayweather masters "hit but don't get hit". Why wouldn't you? However, Mayweather avoids punishment and administers his own. In terms of excitement, Alexander is terrible.
.
As for his worthiness to face Mayweather, on his best day he was never worthy. He's just not marketable. He couldn't draw ants to a picnic.

Absolutely Alexander was grossly overhyped by Floyd groupies. He was never that good of a boxer cause he couldn't box against a decent fighter and Kell Brook would have easily disposed of him.
I have no idea why would anyone call a fighter who clinches 200 times a "skilled" fighter!! what does that word even mean in today's boxing since those groupies raped that word. Some hear think Alexander was so skilled and Golovkin had no skills and would be exposed by people 2 DIVISIONS ABOVE??? claiming GGG has no defense and leaves him self open!!! do people not recognize great balance and the art of cuting off the ring or probing to set up power punches when they see it? do they only recognize skill when someone clinches 200 times and runs?
Did they forget how marginal he looked against a washed up Kotelnik or that he was gifted a decision Matthysse. Or when he was outclassed by Bradley who was concussed by Provadnakov who somehow is thought of as a B fighter who doesnt have any skills yet Alexander deserves a fight against Floyd cause hes so skilled? Ruslan is more skilled than this bum
YES ALEXANDER IS A BUM otherwise he would have fought like a champ in the championship rounds and showed heard rather than clinch 30 times when he was clearly behind

It's pretty pathetic how he got beat by Porter, but to say Khan is somehow way better than Alexander is hilarious.
Khan just got knocked out by Garcia and beat around the ring by Julio Diaz, who Porter at least dominated in his last fight.
Neither guy is even close to Floyds level, and DA/Khan are about on the same level. So if Alexander is a bum, so is Khan. Easy as that.

Devon had been living on borrowed time for a while now. Everyone saw through his home town decision wins and knew that he'd get beat sooner or later.
He should have stuck to fighting foreign opponents then he would have got a few more gift decisions.
No doubt in my mind that Khan would beat Alexander.

It's always been clear to me that Devon Alexander was overrated and it's also very easy for you to say that he's a "bum" right after he loss ,it certainly doesn't make you seem any more knowledgeable.
Ive said Alexander was overrated all along ,way back when he beat Juan Urango and everyone began to hype him up ,i said Alexander is only good when he fights slow guys that stand right in front of him like Juan Urango ,Marcos Maidana ,Randall Bailey and Lucas Matthysse ,a lot of people think Alexander loss to Matthysse as well.

Khan is the only available opponent because he is the only draw. Everyone else either isn't or is coming off a loss. He could move up to Light Middleweight but there isn't anyone to fight. He could try to fight Martinez at 154lbs but Martinez I believe is still recovering.
Khan or no Khan, people should not criticize Mayweather's choice for his next fight. He literally has no options.

I never honestly liked Alexander in the first place. He's really just the slightly upgraded version of Paulie. Sure, he has speed, but no punching power.
