I have a Ford Escort Sport. Check engine light is on had checked told me Cam Positioning Sensor is bad,?

Its a 98. 4 door, single overhead cam. would this cause engine to die once car is stopped, and where exactly is it on the engine.

    not always. it ought to default to a referall value but in some case can cause non starting etc.
