No, no, and yes.
No, they aren't scams. (Well there ARE some scam sites out there, but the major betting sites aren't scams.)
No, they aren't phony. (Again, there are some phony ones, but stick with the biggest and well-known sites and they aren't phony.)
Yes, they are just reeling in the suckers. Only about 1% of folks who bet on sports do so profitably. You are NOT one of those people, nor will you ever be. If you gamble at these on-line sports betting sites, you WILL LOSE MONEY!
How do I know? Well, the truth is I don't. I am more than 99% sure that I am right, because if you already were one of the 1%, you wouldn't be asking this question.
Furthermore, in the extremely low chance that I am wrong, if you start winning regularly, these sites will limit your action. In other words, the biggest bet you might be allowed to place is $10, thereby making it impossible for you to make any real profits from them. That's not a scam. That's business.
