Do you believe one description of a Patriot is to always support your President?

If we can be honest with our selves ( is that possible any more?) we all know there have been many false statements from this administration. Please read the famous quote below and let me know if you believe it simply doesn't matter what the white house tells the citizens of America:

“Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president or any other public official, save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him insofar as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiency or otherwise he fails in his duty to stand by the country. In either event, it is unpatriotic not to tell the truth, whether about the president or anyone else.”

    I absolutely agree with Roosevelt. Now, you read it again and tell us where it says that that support for the President is personal instead of issue-based. You are free to not support the President on policies that you disagree with, but you may not condemn him across the board.

    Patriotism is the belief that your particular plot of land is inherently better than that belonging to anyone else.

    There have been false statements from this administration. There have been many, many more false statements made about this administration and it's president by conservatives and Republicans. Rational fact based objections to this presidency are properly called dissent. The blatant, repeated lies told about President Obama, his family, his religion, his nationality, his race, and his policies are nothing but racism and bigotry.

    Patriotism has nothing to do with the presidency. Patriotism is about country, not politics.

    Patriotism rises above politics. It is a cultural attachment to your homeland, not to a man or any political party.

    I don't agree, Thomas Jefferson was credited with this quote,,"Dissension is the greatest form of patriotism," which I support,, keeping the govt in check is another

    Criticizing a president during a time of war is giving comfort to our enemies and that's TREASON - when a republican is president.

    Criticizing a president during a time of war is our patriotic duty - when a democrat is president.
