Trouble with new glasses?

I've never worn glasses before but now I have to. I am nearsighted and have a slight astigmatism in each eye. I have a really weak prescription. My vision isn't bad, just not as sharp as it used to be.

Anyway, wearing my glasses, everything looks weird...like I'm looking through a fishbowl. Things look slanted. My computer monitor now looks like its a trapezoid shape.

Here's the kicker...when I close one eye, everything looks fine. When I close the other eye, everything still looks fine. But with both eyes open, everything is weird and distorted.

Any help?

The 'bending' you are experiencing is an effect of the astigmatic correction in your specs. This is a common complaint, but is usually temporary and will go away, commonly after a few days, possibly a week or so. If it continues, you may have to ask your eye specialist to modify the prescription to reduce the astigmatic correction to a level that is more tolerable. Sometimes, when a patient goes from having no astigmatic correction to a reasonable one, the patient experiences problems. Ideally, in these circumstances, I would not give the whole correction, especially with reading glasses, but 'ease' you in over several years.

Well you didn't say how long you have had your glasses or what the prescription is, but I think your eyes are still adjusting to your glasses and they will be fine. I suggest that if your not wearing your glasses full time, that you start by putting them on when you get up in the morning and don't take them off until your going to bed. If after a week of doing that your still having those issues then of course you need to consult your doctor.

Well im no expert but you should speak with your doctor because glasses are not supposed to be like that if they were ment for you
