Is PCI-E 3.0 ×16 compatible with PCI-E 2.0 ×16?

I got a motherboard that has PCI Expess 2.0 ×16 and I wanted to get a video card for it that has PCI Express 3.0 ×16. Will they work together?

Motherboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx...

Video Card: http://www.dabs.ie/products/xfx-amd-radeon-7850-2g...

And which video card would be better:

AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB

Or

GeForce GTX 660

Or if you have a better reccomendation in that price range please tell me, thanks.

PCI 3.0 Graphic cards work just fine with motherboards that only have PCI 2.0, the only difference between the two is PCI 2.0 doesn't have as much bandwidth and you wont get the maximum performance from the video card as you would from a motherboard that has PCI 3.0. There isn't much noticeable difference between the two, it would work almost the same. I would strongly recommend the AMD 7850 its a better performer and is probably cheaper. Also another good choice to consider is the AMD 7870, its a great performer for the money.

Sure! No problem. 3.0 and 2.0 are backwards compatible. They work fine together. :)

The Radeon 7850 and 7870 are GREAT video cards - you really get your money's worth.
