Connecting non-wireless printer to network?

I have a HP Laserjet 8150n for my small business and I am looking to be able to print from all 4 of our computers. We do not have a wireless connection or router, 1 computer is connected straight to our modem through an ethernet cord, and the other 3 computers are connected to a switch with an ethernet cord, which is connected to the modem. Now is there a way that I can connect our new printer to either a computer or the switch, so that ALL the computers will be able to print from it? Connecting the printer straight to the modem is not an option, if that matters. All computers are running windows 7. If it matters the printer also has a parallel port. Thank you for your time and assistance!

As mentioned just connect the printer with ethernet cable to the switch. Assuming the modem is a modem/router and that your PCs have private IP addresses, once you connect the printer and see what its IP is from its display or config printout, go to that IP with a browser and it would be best to change it to a static (manual) IP address. Use same numbers up to last dot, and last different number, preferably out of DHCP range, but if you do not know what that means, some number between 2 and 253 not used by the other computers. Use same netmask, gateway, and nameserver(s) as were automatically assigned earlier. Note that once you change its IP, you would need to connect to that IP if you want to get back to its web interface.

You do not even need a CD or anything to assign that printer to the computers, other than maybe for a driver, or most current driver could be downloaded from HP. In Windows Add a printer, select "Local" Port, select New TCP port, fill in the IP address of the computer, and pick an HP Laserjet driver that is close if the exact one is not there. I even used an inexpensive Lexmark network laser printer (which understands HP PCL) in place of our HP printer when it broke until we got a replacement printer, without changing any drivers.

    HI,

connect your printer with a switch that is attached with your modem and then go to your computer and open control panel select printer and run add printer setup wizard follow on screen instruction to search for network printer if your computer is unable to find the network then go to your modem management portal and LAN management check what IP your printer has got and instead of searching the network printer simply type in the ip address in your run window and this will open up printer menu go to file menu and select it as a defualt printer so all apps can use the printer. then move to next computer and repeat the same process.

    Good Luck.

Just connect the printer via ethernet cable directly to the switch. Then you could share. You could always hook it up to one computer and then turn on sharing of the printer but that's not the best way to do it.

Thats the way I have it hooked up at home. Not enough ports on my router/modem, so I use a switch to give me some more ports for my slingbox, printer and TV.
