Depends on what they are picky or not, and if they are at your table regularly, or are a guest.

If it is your kid or relative, I would say that they need to grow up, and realize that not evrything they need to eat is coated with sugar. And I would do what my Mom did. It went on the table, and we ate it. Period.

The only thing I balked at was liver, and it genuinely made me sick.

Now if it a guest, I would make sure they had something on the table they would eat, and then cook what I wanted to for the rest of the guests.

And really, most people are picky to get attention, and yes, people on non-doctor ordered diets like vegan and gluten free can be doing it for attention, too.

Do things that Moms everywhere do. Hide the hated food. Under gravy, cheese, in a caserole

Rivers does not care lima beans, but I will eat them when offered them. But when mixed in with a sack of mix vegetables, and in my casserole, I do not know they are there, and that is nice, because they have protein in them.

Try a little bit of everything.

    Incorporate vegetables into meals.

Pasta sauce is a great way to introduce picky eaters to different things.

    So are casseroles.

Prepare a checklist of healthy recommended foods from the food pyramid, and select those you like. There have to be a few in each area you prefer. Try different ways of preparing them too - for instance, celery baked on low heat (250) has a distinctly sweeter flavor and different texture than raw - you may be less picky than you think. Sometimes it's all in the preparation.

This is a problem I have to deal with all the time. I eat just about anything but it really would be best to find out just what they do eat and won't eat because there's no way they will eat something they don't like.

People are this way for a reason; if you're talking about children then it's a different matter completely though.

A kick in the butt. People are only picky eaters because they are allowed to be. Don't cater to it. A person will eat anything if they get hungry enough.

I cook, I serve. You eat or go hungry as you please.
