Is there a way to hook up my laptop to a monitor without a monitor port?
So I really want to get a second monitor for my laptop but I have just come to the realization that there is no monitor port on my laptop. Are there other ways of hooking it up to a monitor besides the monitor port? Like using an hdmi cable or something?

Yes a USB cable will do it but like someone else said the quality will be very different. If you want better resolution then you should get a monitor port. All the monitor needs to do is sense that your laptop is there and that it's compatible. MacBooks and Macbook Pros have trouble with that because they new need an adaptable cable that goes from their Macbook Pro to the monitor cable and then to the computer.

If by "monitor port", you mean VGA output (there's nothing that's called a "monitor port")....
Anyway, if your laptop supports HDMI Out, then yes, you can hook it up to a monitor using an HDMI cable (assuming your monitor supports HDMI)

You can also get a USB to VGA adapter, however, I've never used one and don't know how good quality you will get. Also don't know what OS you are running on the laptop and whether it will support/work or not.
