i agree you must have a candy thermometer and make sure you have fresh baking soda to get the peanut brittle. make sure to use real butter to get that buttery taste. to fluff up before you pour onto buttered trays and work fast and spread thin. the best recipe i've have ever used is in the better homes and gardens christmas cookbook and its called peanut brittle the recipe is on the web site for better homes and gardens christmas cookbook peanut brittle recipe,.

try this one:
Mix 1/2 cup light corn syrup and 1 cup of sugar in microwave safe bowl.
Microwave on high for 4 minutes.
Add 1 cup of salted peanuts.
Microwave for 3/5 minutes.
Add one teaspoon of vanilla and one teaspoon of baking soda.
(Watch out! It's hot and it foams up)
Pour onto buttered cookie sheet.
break into pieces.

if you dont have a candy thermometer you might want to invest in one before you try this again. sugar has to reach a certain temperature to become brittle and be crunchy. if it does not reach that specified temp it will be gooey and sticky.
