Christmas is the celebration of the central figure of Christianity, Jesus Christ's, birth.
Jesus Christ wasn't actually born on Christmas. By the New Testament, he was more likely born in the spring due to the shepherds being in the fields. However, the early church decided to make Christmas there big holiday at the end of the year because the pagans in Europe already had big holidays at the end of the year. Thus, it was easier to proselytize.
however, Christmas has developed into a cultural for many parts of the world such as the UK and the US.
