Theorems Involving Parallel Lines- Hw Help for Geometry?

I know this may be simple, but I forgot how to do this..

If CD= 8x, and AB= 3x +2, then x=?

-Info: AB is 1/2 the size of CD on the diagram-

    Hello. Thank you for all of the information. First things first:

    AB * 2 = CD (as you said, CD is twice the size of AB/AB is 1/2 the size of CD)

    So 2 * (3x+2) = 8x or 2 * AB = CD

    Then distribute the 2 and you will end up with: 6x + 4 = 8x

    Now subtract 6x from each side and you have: 4 = 2x

    Then divide both sides by 2: 2 = x

    x = 2
