if i make above the 2014 minimum wage hike, do I benefit from it going up?

I live in NJ and the minimum wage is going up $1. When the new hike goes up in 2014, I'll be 20 cents above the hike. Can I benefit from it in anyway?

What are my options?

When minimum wage goes up, employers have to pay their employees more money. In turn the company must charge more for it's product and that goes on all through the business world. You end up making a bit more money and the price of everything goes up so you are in the same place...that's for the minimum wage earners who think they are getting something. It's the rest of us that have worked to make more money that lose. I don't get a raise to keep up with the rising cost of everything so I earn the same and can only buy less. That hurts the economy and it hurts me and my family. You are just figuring it out. You'll just be a tad above minimum wage so you will only be able to buy less and lose. It isn't fair when they raise the minimum wage. Nothing gets accomplished except prices go up and those of us that worked to make more than minimum wage get to pay for it.

If you get fired, your new job will only pay 20 cents less, that's how you benefit :)
