Videos played on vlc in 5.1 mode plays music but the voices are muted and when i play games explosives play through the centre speaker instead of the sub. When i test it the sub and the centre appear to be the wrong way around

    Check your soundcard settings.

Mine has the option "Centre / L.F.E. swap". This swaps over the outputs for the subwoofer and centre speaker (I have no idea why - it seems pointless to me). It took me a while to work out the problem.

you need to swap the sub and the center cables around. the reason why the voices are muted is they usually play through the center cause thats where the action is.

Run the test tone sequence and compare the displayed speaker that should be playing vs. what it actually playing.
