Thirst after Bunionectomy....?

Had a bunionectomy plus some plates and screws inserted into my foot for arthritis yesterday. Pre-op they told me I was dehydrated, even though I went through 1/2 gallon of water the day before. I cannot get enough water to drink right now...is it normal to be so thirsty after such a simple surgery?

Yes, the drugs that you are on to alleviate your pain can cause incredible thirst.

Possibly, the meds usually are what make you thirsty. I assume all your pre op labs where OK? If your thirst continues, you should get it checked out.
