Should I finish the humanities degree first or should I just go for the computer science degree?

I'm married and I work full time. I'm a real estate agent right now and it's a great career, but I love computers. I would prefer a steady paycheck, though, because my wife and I are thinking about starting a family, so that's what is making me think about this.

If I finish the humanities degree, I have 7 classes left, but I'm starting to wonder if that's even worth it. I worry that a humanities degree is useless. At least the computer science degree gives you a skill set that you can use to get a job.

My other thought is that if I finish the humanities degree, there wouldn't be nearly as much available, career-wise, plus it probably wouldn't pay nearly as much as IT jobs.

So, I guess, my question is, should I finish the humanities degree first or should I just go for the computer science degree?

Do not worry any more whether a humanities degree might be useless. You can be assured that in 90%+ of cases it is useless for getting relevant employment. With a humanities degree you can become a real estate agent.

Did you not research this before starting the degree?

You can drop out of the humanities degree and be right where you ar enow. Or you can complete it and still be where you are now.

Or you can do the computer science but you will need at least two full load years of classes. If you work full time, expect those to take 4 to 5 years.

When done you will make $50K to start then maybe $85K after 8 -10 years. But then real estate has a potential to make you the same income.

Myself, I an engineer but I work part time as a real estate investor as it brings me a steady income that will be my pension. I invest in actual properties as well as REITs. My son in law (with a computer science degree and doing top secret work for the US government) and my daughter (PhD in engineering) bought their first investment property this year and plan for it to be the first of many.

My daughter tells me that a lot of great fortunes started in real estate.

The decision is up to you but your humanities degree will not help you whether you finish it or not.

Find a place that will take some of your credits from your humanities work and transfer into IT. Go see an academic adviser to help you explore your options. If you transfer to another college, go see transfer advisers there too, to be sure that you are following their requirements. Good luck.
