Doing boy's hair for cheer?
Hi, my BF tried out for cheer and made the squad (I am already on it). He looks super-cute in his outfit, and I can't wait to start cheering with him. Here's the thing: he's got long hair (just below shoulder-length), and we're trying to decide how he should wear it for games, pep rallies, gamedays at school, and competitions. His outfit is identical to the girls except it's shorts instead of a skirt. Here are the options as we see them:
1. Wear his hair back in a low "guy's" ponytail.
2. Wear it up in a higher ponytail with a ribbon to match the girls.
3. Wear the same hairstyles as the girls.
We wear our hair in several different styles: high curly ponytails, down in curls, braided pigtails, etc. We really pride ourselves on uniformity and he doesn't want to "stand out." Has anyone ever dealt with this before?
(Please dont say "Cut his hair." It's gorgeous & I'd kill him if he cut it off.)

Pony tail is fine. Guys do that so it's ok and you guys can match his! Really I don't see a big deal why he shouldn't wear a skirt and match you guys! That way he won't stand out. Really no big deal and men have worn skirts far longer than women and many were micro mini length. Freedom of movement is far better as you know. Worn with spandex undies the "look" will be the same as the girls. The main danger for you is other girls will hit on him big time and for sure once a guy tries on a skirt for a short time he won't want to give it up! Think about it... it makes more sense for a male to wear a skirt than a female due to anatomy alone so society is screwed up. He should at least try it!
He sounds like a guy who thinks for himself and doesn't follow the crowd! Thats great!

I will say this in the nicest manner that I can... YES!!!!! I would say he should wear the skirt b/c it is very comfortable. finally m cheerleading squad made me curl my hair with an iron I never looked back (actually they curled it for me). I even met my gf on the squad, she fell in love with me and my curls in a high pony. so I would say curl it.
