is it bad to let my tea brew for too long?

a friend of mine told me that dangerous substances which can cause sancer are released. is that true?

    It's news to me. And wouldn't those same "substances" be released from the beginning?

    I drink tea everyday in my country(The ROC)！

    We make tea brew 30 second at the first time,

    and 30 at the second,

    then 1 minute..3minute...5minute are the best taste for hot tea.

    Or brew cold tea one night.
