I was thinking of doing my phd in a different uni but he is very good. What do you think?

he is in his forties and i suspect he is emotionally damaged since childhood. his parents' relationship was really bad, they would be together and then fight and break up all the time, until they had a final divorce (i think), so he kind of shut himshelf down emotionally and applied himshelf to his studies (he is a scientist now). he's been in many relationships in his life, he's been hurt by a few and he is currently married but he spends almost all of his time on his research. he feels very lonely (i think he and his wife don't communicate very well) and he has low-self esteem (maybe a periodical impostor syndrome as well). he often speaks derogatory about himshelf and his work. he is also very stressed, mainly due to the nature of his job, wich doesn't make things easier. he is a very nice person and a true inspiration to other people, but he won't admit it. how can i help him? is there something i can say to him to help him become happier?

a close friend of mine lately complains about her almost daily headaches and great difficulty to concentrate and understand when she tries to study. we are college students. she did not have these problems before. i assume it s just stress and maybe tiredness but she insists that s not the case. she is really worried about it and thinks she has some sort of condition. what do you think? what kind of doctor should see her? what can i do?
