Which Camera Should I Get?
I have been advised by my teacher to persue photography for my GCSE course (Art) and I need a new camera. I have been looking at the Nikon Coolpix L820, which you can get for £119.99 at Argos. I'm looking for something up to a very maximum of £200. Any other suggestions or is this one a good choice?

What are the requirements for the class? Does the camera have to have specific modes?

Forget the Nikon - it has neither manual controls nor viewfinder, and would be totally inadequate for a photography course.
I agree that you should look at 35mm SLRs (Nikon FM series, Pentax K1000 or MX, Olympus OM-1) which can be bought cheaply from a reputable dealer, who may even throw in a warranty, but check out the course requirements first.

Nikon P330 would be the one to get for several photographic reasons including a better sensor and manual modes.

Ideally find out from your teacher what kind of camera they need you to be using for the course. Sometimes it will be an old 35mm Film camera with full manual controls and these can be picked up for under £30 from ebay or from places like London Camera Exchange.
Add: NB: Andrew. That Nikon P330 offers Aperture priority
Shutter priority and Manual exposure modes. Granted it may not be adequate for the course but everything is there to help someone learn their way into photography.
