How to transfer photos from iPhone to iPad?

Hello. I recently got an iPad Air 64GB and I'd like to free up some space on my 32GB iPhone 5 on which I take many photos. I have around 4500 photos on my iPhone which is about 15GB. So you can understand why I'd like to move it all to my iPad.

How could I go about moving the existing photos from my iPhone to my iPad - preferably without having to upload to then download from my Mac (but if this is necessary then I suppose I haven't got a choice)?

Secondly, a question about 'My Photo Stream' which is that: if I take a photo on my iPhone and iCloud pushes it to my iPad, will it be deleted from my iPad if I remove it from my iPhone?

Many thanks!

Update:

Emailing myself is an obvious one but what's also obvious are the impracticalities of this method when shifting four and a half THOUSAND of them.

The easiest way would be to transfer them to a computer & then sync them through iTunes to the iPad.

Yes the Photo Stream album is synced between the devices that can access them. Delete from 1 & it is reflected on the other.

On a side note, I don't know how 4500 pics takes up that much space. Not saying you are lying or anything of course, but I have almost 9000 pics taking up less space than that.

The Photo Stream in iCloud can sync images in wireless connection automatically. You can use iCloud Photo Stream to transfer photos from iPhone to iPad Pro with ease. Or you can also transfer photos from iPhone to Mac. Before transferring photos from iPhone to iPad Pro, you should sign in the same Apple ID on iOS and OS X devices.

1.Connect both your iPhone and iPad Pro with the same Wi-Fi.

2.Click “System Preferences” on your iPad Pro, go to find “iCloud”.

3.Choose “Photos” button, and then turn on “My Photo Stream” on your OS X device.

4.Repeat the above operation to your iPhone, Settings > iCloud > Photos > My Photo Stream.

5.You will find transferred photos from iPhone to iPad Pro appear automatically without any more clicks.

There is one thing you need to know that iCloud Photo Stream only store 1000 photos. Meanwhile, if you turn on “iCloud Photo Library”, iCloud will upload all images to iPad Pro. So you cannot transfer photos from iPhone to iPad Pro selectively.
