How do I get experience with kids when no one I know has them?
Hi all. I'd like to get some experience with kids, but none of my friends or family has them. Well, some family has kids, but they live across the country so it's a moot point. I've glanced at volunteering but the couple places I saw wanted volunteers to already have experience with kids. Obviously no one's going to hire someone without experience for babysitting, so please don't suggest that. Ideas?
ETA: I'm too old for the YMCA and red cross classes (don't know if there's an age limit everywhere, but there is for all classes offered in my city). As I've stated before, no one is hiring without experience.

Check with your local library if they need volunteers to help with their children's programs. Our library welcomes teens to help out.

some YMCA and Salvation Army charters offer Baby sitting CPR Courses rather cheap if not free Your local Library might have some information on times and when next class begins With this certificate more parents will be apt to hire you after they know you've taken and passed the course Advertize as a "Mother's Helper" that you come to help while mom is still at home with the kids and so you will be helping mother with the kids as well as earning experience Good Luck, hope I was able to helped

Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, local rec center, an afterschool program, some daycares would hire you as an assistant teacher, etc.
