Why are multigrade engine oils offered in the Philippines?

The country does not have winter and the mornings are tropical thus the oil stays fluid the whole year round. Won't monogrades work, i.e. SAE 30, 40?

The first number is weight of oil 5 is thinner and will give you better fuel millage. The second number is how well it sticks to parts 30 or equivalent of 30 weight oil. You can use strait weight it will cut millage a little and is better to use in hard use over a lighter weight.

Yes, SAE 30 is pretty standard. I like the synthetic blends better. You can longer without oil changes and they are better for your engine.

SAE 30 weight is probably ok in the Philippines. Cheaper.

I think because they don't even know what the #s mean.

The first number means what thickness the oil is when cold & the 2nd # is what thickness when hot.

But like you say it is HOT here year around..

But they want to be like Americans & use the multigrade oil.
