Should an implant healing cap be installed or delayed?

After a successful dental implant, if crowning must be delayed due to cost, is it better to open the gum, by a dentist of course, and install a healing cap, or to leave the gum intact until a crown can be paid for? In either case, how long before problems are likely to result?

Dentists Call, wouldn't the healing cap cost you more too? I would leave it closed providing it is healed well.
